My Theme: The Green Events Scene
When I was a freshman in college I had the opportunity to participate in a “Wilderness Studies” program. It was during that spring while hiking in one of the gorgeous Southern Utah national parks that I decided I wanted to be a park ranger. I love working with people and I love nature so combining the two seemed the perfect career for me. I then took a recreation programming class my junior year of college and realized my true passion is event planning!
Now, with over sixteen years in the events industry, I have been responsible for planning, managing and executing more than 200 varied special events. This direct event planning experience includes large-scale public and business community events, high-profile fundraising galas, private donor functions, formal educational events, academic lecture series events, weddings, social events and professional networking meetings. These events have ranged from under fifty guests to ten thousand daily attendees, lasting two hours to one week in duration. I have also participated in the planning and staffing of several multi-day conferences.
I am still just as passionate about conservation, perhaps even more so, and I am beyond excited that the “green movement” has gone mainstream! I am also thrilled about now combining these two passions into a career to create events that are more “eco-friendly”.
For tips on how your can “green” your events check out my “Green Events Guide” and maybe learn some new ideas how you can make your events “less impactful” in a good way!
